Playing Video Games

Blog Post Number 13 Written: 05-27-2021 Uploaded: 04-16-2022

Like most self proclaimed nerds, I play video games. I started seriously playing when Halo 2 was released. That was my first game, after that I played Call of duty religiously. Starting with all three Modern Warfare’s and World at War. But I kept playing into Ghosts, Infinite and Advanced warfare. (Be it noted, I only played single player and never online multiplayer for any of the aforementioned games.) I got some other generic first-person shooters as time went on, Halo 3 Halo reach, Halo ODST, Mass Effect, Brothers in arms. Full Spectrum Warrior, Battle Field 3 and 4, and so on. I’m sure there are some other smaller tittles I am forgetting. I got my hands on some odd games overtime. (I played the fist black ops, but never the third or fourth or however many there are in that series now.)

After highschool I was in college, I didn’t have time for games. Nor did I take the gaming consoles with me when I moved out of my parent’s place. But I had a roommate, and he had a PS3. On occasion, if I had a rough work week, and decided to spend a weekend playing games, I went to the nearest game stop and picked up a copy of battlefield 4 out of the used games bargain bin. I didn’t know anything about the battlefield franchise, I just saw a cool looking guy with a gun on the cover of a cheap, used game, and I bought it.

And then I found out PlayStation had free to play online games, unlike pay to play Xbox live. So that was the first time I ever played pvp online. I put 850 ish hours into Battlefield 4 on a play station three in 2016/2017. I was taken by the ‘realism’ of Battlefield compared to COD and the much larger selection of gear in the game. I started looking into more realistic, simulator type fps games. That’s when I found things like Arma III and Squad. But those were PC only titles. So For black Friday in 2018 I bought myself a bunch of computer parts and January of 2019 I built my gaming PC. And I haven’t looked back on the console peasants since. I have been playing strategic, realistic thinking man’s FPS games like Arma III, Squad, Hell let Loose, Ghost Recon Wildlands, Insurgency Sandstorm, Post Scriptum, Door Kickers2, Ground Branch, EFT and so on. But I love any game with a good story. I’ve got stuff like Witcher, Cyberpunk 2077, all three mass effect games. I’m waiting for bio mutant to go on sale. Other good thinking games I like, but aren’t FPS games likes Cold waters. I’ve got some chill casual games like sub-Nautica and Minecraft. That’s no big deal. So if you want to play some games, find me 34 of Spades on discord or steam and hopefully I have enough time to play along, because between work, writing, and adulting, I don’t have nearly enough time to play.

P.S. Currently, Deep Rock Galactic is my go to fav. if you want to Rock and Stone, you know where to find me.

Thanks for stopping by, I’ll see you out there.
